Plain terms for a small product. If anything here reads as a trick, tell me and I’ll rewrite it.

Who you’re dealing with

Downtown is operated by Raj Sajnani, trading as JustADev, in Bangalore, India. Contact is raj@downtown.company.

What you’re buying

A listing on this website: a plot on the map, a number of floors on it, and the right to put your company’s name, logo, website and floor text on that tower. You are not buying property, land, shares, securities, a token, or anything that exists outside downtown.company. It has no resale value and I don’t operate a market for it.

“Yours for life”

It means there is no subscription, no renewal, and I will not take your tower down or resell your plot while Downtown is running. It does not mean forever, because no website is forever. If Downtown ever shuts down, I’ll give at least 30 days’ notice by email to everyone who bought, and the tower goes when the site goes. Buy at a price you’d be happy having paid for something fun.

Payment

Payments are handled by Dodo Payments, who act as merchant of record and appear on your statement. Card details never reach my servers. Prices shown are in US dollars. Your bank converts, and local taxes such as GST are added by Dodo at checkout, so the amount charged can be noticeably higher than the dollar figure. Every purchase is one-time. Nothing recurring is ever set up.

Your content

You keep everything you write and upload. You give me permission to display it on Downtown, and in screenshots of Downtown used to promote the site. You confirm you’re entitled to represent the website you list.

I can remove content that breaks the rules, is illegal, or puts visitors at risk. If I remove your tower for that reason I’ll refund what you paid for it and tell you why.

What I don’t promise

Downtown is provided as it is. I don’t promise it will be available without interruption, that visitors will click your tower, or that being listed will bring you customers. Land value, the standings board and the press crew are game mechanics that can change as the city grows. Anything you’ve already paid for stays yours.

Liability

Nothing here limits liability for fraud, death or personal injury, or anything that can’t be limited by law. Otherwise my total liability to you is limited to what you have paid me, which for most people is a few dollars.

Changes and law

If these terms change I’ll update this page and the date at the top. Changes don’t apply retroactively to a purchase you already made. These terms are governed by the laws of India, and the courts of Bangalore have jurisdiction.
